How to Prevent Taking Bed Bugs into your Home

Some people are not aware they have brought bed bugs into their homes until they see some bites on their skin. The spread of bed bugs is not a mystery and humans can help their spread.

Many people assume that dirty locations can attract bed bugs. While the majority of dirty locations can attract a host of unwanted insects that can spread germs and contaminate areas, bed bugs can stay in either dirty or clean locations. These bugs can spread through human travel and movements. Their small round shape lets them hide anywhere they can squeeze such as onto the furniture fabric, luggage, clothing, mattresses, and others. Any items infested with these bugs should be treated with solutions from Solution Cimex.

Where you can Get Bed Bugs

Usually, bed bugs are found in homes, college dorms, apartment buildings, and hotels. These are places that have consistent hosts at rest for the bugs to feed. However, bed bugs can also be present in movie theatres, daycares, and city buses where they can be picked up and transferred from people resting in such areas. As people are constantly rotating here, bed bugs can be deposited and picked up on bags, clothing, and purses and taken home.

Bed bugs are hitchhikers so they often travel by luggage. Motels and hotels can be susceptible to bed bug infestations no matter how clean they are. People can easily get those bugs as the latter hitch a ride back to the traveler’s home.

What to Do to Prevent Getting Bed Bugs

To make sure you don’t end up taking bed bug homes, do not bring an upholstered piece of furniture, box springs, mattresses, or bed frames on the street into your house. Spend time checking all rented, borrowed, second-hand furniture for bed bugs before you bring them into your house. Don’t miss checking any cracks and crevices even in wooden furniture. When traveling, check the rooms before you stain hotels. Keep in mind that even the nicest and cleanest hotel can be infested. Avoid placing your luggage on the ground and inspect the mattresses, headboard, box spring and others for the bugs before you spend a night in the room.

In case you suspect that you are carrying bed bugs, inspect any items you have before you enter your house. If you find any bed bug, launder items right away or put them in plastic bags until you can perform further treatment with the right products. But, even if you do not have bed bugs, use caulk for sealing cracks and crevices in your bedroom.
